About On Track
Our History
Since our beginnings in 1992 (then operating under the name of Tweed River Valley Fellowship TRVF) - the priority for On Track has been to provide psychosocial programs and support for people living with a mental illness or disability.
1992-2005 Where it began
During this period, On Track played an important role as a provider of community-based mental health support services across the Tweed Valley. Our catchment area extended from the Border at Tweed Heads in the North, South to Wooyong and inland to encompass Murwillumbah and nearby localities.
In 1999, our Management Committee supported the move to expand the organisation’s role from one focused solely on mental health to auspice a crisis accommodation service – then known as the Tweed Crisis Accommodation Project - with funding from the NSW Department of Community Services.
By 2002, plans were in place to further expand programs to include accommodation support for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. This saw On Track take on the provision of a group home supporting 5 clients to live as independently as possible.
With the expansion of programs came the need for a change of name to better reflect our expanded role within community based support services. Following months of consultation, the name On Track Community Programs Inc – referred to within the organisation and the wider community as On Track – was agreed on by consumers, staff, volunteers and management committee members.
On Track Today
On Track Community Programs has developed into a leading provider of community-based mental health, disability and community support services for the North Coast region of NSW.
