The NSW Younger People in Residential Aged Care (YPIRAC) Program provides support to young people living with disabilities in nursing homes and improves their quality of life. The program provides direct assistance, information, advice and technical support (where necessary) to assist young people and their families.

The packages can support some younger people who remain in residential aged care, or where individuals are waiting for suitable alternative accommodation to become available.

Activities and services include:

  • small group activities
  • individualised activities/outings
  • therapy/rehabilitation
  • behavioural support to maintain or improve physical function

Support is also provided to maintain contact with their family or friends as wel as transport needs.

The YPIRAC Program is funded through the Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADHC).
